13:52: THE CHIASS IS ON! Draisaitl ups the puck to Alex Chiasson, who gains a stride on the Leafs and goes backhand 5-hole to get the Oilers on the board. Chiasson scores his fourth of the year as the helpers go to Draisaitl and Oscar Klefbom. | TOR 2, EDM 1

14:17: Cody Ceci sends the puck out of play, giving the Oilers their second man advantage of the night.

15:17: Hyman hammers a shot and Koskinen’s bucket comes undone to force a whistle.

17:44: Koskinen gloves down Morgan Rielly’s blast from the side.

SECOND PERIOD

0.0: Mikheyev makes it a 2-0 score in the middle frame. Shots after 40 minutes are 23-22 EDM.

1:16: Draisaitl misses the cage with a one-timer and Nugent-Hopkins bobbles the puck with an open net on the power play as the Oilers don’t score on their only opportunity tonight.

5:21: The first penalty of the evening goes to Toronto defenceman Jake Muzzin for holding.

8:06: Ryan Nugent-Hopkins wheels back to the defensive zone to break up a Tavares breakaway.

9:45: The Oilers put together a solid few minutes of pressure, punctuating the extended offensive zone possession with a one-timer courtesy of Jujhar Khaira that gets stopped by Andersen.

14:33: Ilya Mikheyev dumps in a rebound to put the Leafs up by a pair. | TOR 2, EDM 0

15:57: Markus Granlund whacks at a bouncing puck just ahead of Andersen’s crease but it somehow stays out. At the other end, Koskinen stops Jake Muzzin’s one-timer from the slot.

20:00: The puck has been dropped for the second period.

FIRST PERIOD

0.0: The first period ends with the Leafs leading by a single. Shots are 14-11 in favour of TOR.

2:04: Draisaitl receives a partial break but it comes at the tail end of a shift, so he slams a shot on Andersen then heads off. Just before that, Frederik Gauthier got a piece of a cross-crease feed but sent the puck skittering across the goal-line.

7:48: Kasperi Kapanen attacks the O-zone then drops for Auston Matthews, whose sneaky wrister is foiled by Koskinen. It’s free-wheeling hockey at Rogers Place so far.

11:32: Mikko Koskinen gets saves nine and 10, first stopping Mitch Marner’s wrister through traffic then John Tavares’ ensuing rebound attempt.

12:46: James Neal busts in from the wing and lets a wrist shot fly but Frederik Andersen catches it with his glove.

15:20: Alexander Kerfoot goes back bar and out to open the scoring for the Maple Leafs. | TOR 1, EDM 0

16:31: Zack Kassian sweeps a shot on net and the rebound pops up to hit Leon Draisaitl in the chest, almost bouncing in the forward’s favour towards the net but doesn’t go in.

18:37: Chants for both sides break out as the game gets under way. Zack Hyman skates in off the rush but puts the puck wide of the cage then Connor McDavid later gets a charge up ice and misses the net as well.

20:00: Tonight’s game has begun!
