4:41: The Oilers go back to the box, this time Markus Granlund for holding.

8:33: Chiasson releases a one-timer but it misses the mark. Shots halfway through the third are 26-25 Kings. Chiasson gets a 10-minute misconduct after tussling with a King.

13:19: Alex Chiasson is flagged for cross-checking as the Oilers are shorthanded once again. The club is 4-for-4 on the PK tonight.

13:49: Kassian dishes to Nygard at the net but his far-side shot is blocked by Quick. The Kings keeper has 25 saves tonight.

14:42: Coach Dave Tippett shakes his lines up as Nygard is boosted up with Kassian and McDavid. Draisaitl gets a shift with Nugent-Hopkins and James Neal.

16:35: McDavid tries to get the offence going but his wrister whistles high and wide.

20:00: The third period has begun.

SECOND PERIOD

0.0: McDavid puts the Oilers on the board but Amadio gets it right back for the Kings, who lead 4-1 to enter the third. Shots are 22-19 Kings.

30.5: Khaira goes off for hooking. The Oilers go back to being shorthanded.

1:54: The Kings do a good job of not allowing many dangerous looks on the Oilers second power play. Oilers continue to trail by three near the end of the second.

5:15: Kempe gets called for holding as the Oilers get another chance to score on the power play.

8:44: Michael Amadio slips one through a maze of bodies to regain the Kings’ three-goal lead. The Oilers challenge for goaltender interference but don’t get the call, instead being given a two-minute delay of game penalty for the failed challenge. | LAK 4, EDM 1

14:50: Make it 24 straight kills as Nugent-Hopkins’ minor is suppressed.

17:30: Ryan Nugent-Hopkins gets two for tripping. The Oilers go back to the kill.

19:22: CAP’N 97! McDavid strips the puck then lifts it over Quick’s shoulder to get the Oilers on the board. He’s now tied with Draisaitl for first in League scoring. Both players have 16 goals and 28 assists. McDavid extends his point streak to nine games. | LAK 3, EDM 1

20:00: Mikko Koskinen starts in net as the second period begins.

FIRST PERIOD

0.0: The Kings jump out to a 3-0 advantage after 20. Shots are 13-12 EDM.

2.5: Carter jams a rebound home with the clock ticking down to give the Kings a 3-0 lead in the first. | LAK 3, EDM 0

1:59: Leon Draisaitl tries to go blocker side on Quick but is foiled as the Oilers fail to score on their first power play tonight.

5:06: Jujhar Khaira gets tripped in the neutral zone, awarding the Oilers their first man advantage of the night as Grundstrom goes off.

5:39: The puck squirts out to Anze Kopitar in the left circle and he rifles a slapper that beats Smith’s glove. The Kings go up by two. | LAK 2, EDM 0

6:33: Joakim Nygard gets a bounce at the Oilers blueline, sending him on a breakaway. He tries to go 5-hole but can’t beat Jonathan Quick.

9:42: Edmonton kills their 23rd-straight minor by neutralizing Archibald’s penalty. The club is getting outshot 8-1 halfway through the first.

12:06: Josh Archibald is guilty of tripping Adrian Kempe. The Kings get the game’s first power play of the evening.

13:46: Smith steers aside Jeff Carter’s shot then stays alive to keep Carl Grundstrom’s rebound from going in. He has six saves tonight already.

18:28: Tyler Toffoli gains a stride off the rush and goes far side on Mike Smith to open the scoring on the first shot of the match. | LAK 1, EDM 0
