0.0: The Oilers drop their second pre-season tuneup to the Canucks, falling 6-1. The club goes at it again tomorrow at Rogers Place in a Battle of Alberta matchup.
3:39: Adam Gaudette shows some patience then roofs the puck on Starrett to net the Canucks’ sixth goal of the evening. | VAN 6, EDM 1
5:08: The Oilers kill an Alex Chiasson minor.
12:47: Tyler Benson sends the puck cross-ice to Lowe and he lets one fly but Markstrom gloves it down.
13:57: Shots are 26-24 Canucks as we near the midway mark of the final frame.
18:06: An errant pass leads to a Horvat break and the Canucks forward zips one blocker side on Starrett. Vancouver running away with this one. | VAN 5, EDM 1
19:12: Baertschi hooks Caleb Jones behind the goal-line to warrant a hooking minor. We’ll see 4-on-4 hockey for 1:07 then an abbreviated power play for Edmonton.
19:30: Starrett gets tested early, eating Chris Tanev’s shot off the wing.
20:00: The third period has begun with the Oilers on the PK for 1:55. Shane Starrett starts the period in goal.
SECOND PERIOD
0.0: The Canucks add a pair of power-play markers to the scoresheet, making it a 4-1 game. Shots are even at 23 apiece.
5.7: Matt Benning tries to clear the zone but the puck hops the glass. He gets two for delay of game.
4:16: Lukas Jasek walks into the right circle and scores far side. Vancouver nets another PPG. | VAN 4, EDM 1
4:40: Patrick Russell breaks in shorthanded, trying to connect with Haas heading to the net but missing.
6:08: Koskinen gets out to play the puck but ends up sending it out of play. Jurco serves the delay of game minor.
7:55: Horvat waits for Sven Baertschi to get into position then rips the puck over to him on a platter for a quick backdoor tally. Vancouver takes a two-goal lead. | VAN 3, EDM 1
8:47: Keegan Lowe goes off for tripping. Edmonton back to the kill.
10:43: Koskinen gets a piece of Leivo’s point shot that travelled through heavy traffic with his pad to keep the Oilers within one.
16:32: Edmonton gets plenty of looks on the PP but can’t get one to go on the extended infraction. The clubs are back to even strength.
19:12: Jurco gets a pass at the left circle and fires a wrist shot on Markstrom to no avail.
20:00: The second period has begun with the Oilers on the power play.

FIRST PERIOD
0.0: The Oilers exit the first down by one but with 3:12 of power-play time remaining to start the second. Shots ended at 13-8 Edmonton.
48.6: Leivo gets his stick up on Gaëtan Haas, receiving a double-minor high sticking penalty.
1:26: Jay Beagle picks his spot and goes there, beating Koskinen high glove to give the Canucks the lead once again. | VAN 2, EDM 1
1:33: Neal continues to buzz around the net, shooting as Markstrom was sprawled out but hitting the post.
4:07: The Orange & Blue fail to convert. It’s still 1-1 as the Oilers lead the shot count 11-7.
6:44: Oilers get a man advantage now as Oscar Fantenberg hooks Neal.
7:54: The Oilers kill Neal’s minor with the help of Koskinen. He goes left to right to stop Jay Beagle’s quick release.
10:03: Neal gets called for hooking to give the Canucks their first power play of the evening.
10:16: MIKKO! Edmonton’s guardian makes two greats tops, first kicking out Bo Horvat’s high tip then steering aside Josh Leivo’s shot in-tight.
12:38: Joakim Nygard – looking to make an impression alongside Ryan McLeod and James Neal tonight – gets a lucky bounce to give him a partial break. The winger tries to wait out Jacob Markstrom on his backhand but can’t lift the puck over the keeper’s left pad.
13:38: SOUND THE HORN! Oscar Klefbom blasts one from the point and Cooper Marody finishes the play by putting back the rebound. That’s No. 65’s first pre-season goal and third point. Oilers tie it up. | EDM 1, VAN 1
15:57: J.T. Miller wins the faceoff and Brogan Rafferty steps into a slap shot that beats Mikko Koskinen clean. Canucks open the scoring. | VAN 1, EDM 0
